He now serves as the Minister of Education, Gender & Social Welfare- Ruweng State – Panrieng (GOSS). Simon is another great example of Alliance for the Lost Boys of Sudan scholarship recipients and former Lost Boys who are paying it forward and making a difference in their homeland. Be sure to look for Simon in our Mission SSS video.
“Truly speaking, I can’t describe how much it meant to me to have secured my education in the US at FCCJ and UNF. I am so thankful to Alliance for the Lost Boys of Sudan and our supporter’s for providing me with scholarships to help achieve that goal. I can confidently attest that I have brought to fruition the dream and slogan of the Alliance which says, “Education can Change the Face of a Nation”. Southern Sudan will never forget my efforts over the last three years of service in Juba, South Sudan. I have been injured on road accidents delivering examinations across dangerous terrains and I have walked on my bare feet for hours across great distances, through mud and water, just to ensure that Sudanese children are able to sit for class examinations. The people of Southern Sudan will not only remember my efforts, but also those of the Alliance for the Lost Boys of Sudan and all of our supporters who helped to shape my vision by providing me with a college education and never ending support. To all of you, I say thank you from the bottom of my heart.” Simon Nyokgak Deng
